I finished exploring the shops and markets in Marlborough before the time we had planned to meet up so I went for a walk along the river at the edge of town and found myself crossing a log which had fallen over the water. I reached the other side to discover a hauntingly-beautiful enchanted garden which had been hidden by the willow trees and bushes. There were wild-growing climbing roses in blood red, yellow and orange; swans and ducks hiding in the bushes; rabbits darted away as I walked on and after a time exploring this small forest, I came across a large lock and a bridge over a lake leading to blossom-heavy fruit trees. I realised I had stumbled into a private estate and so hurried on my way, returning over the log and back into the town centre.

This made me think of Mrs. Honey's garden in Matilda - overgrown and magical, bursting with colour and life. I am glad you got to have that moment alone.
