We departed Brussels Midi train station on a rainy Saturday evening. Arrived in Paris for a late connection for the redeye to Dubai. The train was delayed several times and we had to make a run from the station.. In the end we made the flight so all was well.

We arrived in Dubai on Sunday morning to the SUN!!! There was not a cloud in the sky and it was a beautiful 80 degrees!! Bryan was not initially sold on the warm climate for xmas - anti traditional vacation. But he very quickly warmed up to the idea of relaxation!!!

Dubai is a very 'young' city with modern resort facilities and very western malls. We stayed in a hotel that was connected to a brand new mall!! This included a ton of American restaurants. It was odd for the two of us to enjoy 'on the border' mexican our first night in Dubai!

We enjoyed christmas brunch at the Belgian cafe in the hotel. Yes - we flew half way around the world to have Belgian food... The good news was that we knew exactly which beer was good!

Santa found us and Amy enjoyed her new jewelry - while Bryan got a nice pen.

After a few days we finally decided it was time to venture out..
