Well, it's my last weekend here and rain or shine I headed out to Stanley. It's on the most Southern part of Hong Kong Island. After taking the MTR and a mini bus, the trip only took about 45-50 minutes. I was a bit surprised how quick it was but like I said before, the transportation system here is pretty good. Although, I would have to say that the drivers here are either brave or crazy, driving the way they do around these narrow curvy streets on the hills.

When I arrived, I made my way to the famous Stanley Market area and before I started wandering around, I grabbed some lunch. I don't think I'll ever get used to eating so well and paying so little here. After lunch, it was off to the market area and the Stanley Plaza.

Except for the misty weather, I enjoyed my time here but I would have to say that Stanley is probably the least Hong Kongish place I've been too since I've been here. The setting almost felt like I was in some small European town instead of Hong Kong. This is also the first time I saw a beach of some sort around here. Too bad, the sun wasn't out this day, I might have stayed longer.

Before getting back on the bus, I walked around a bit more looking at temples and also heading toward the Stanley Military Cemetery. I was a bit surprised how "modern" the temples looked but when I say "modern", I mean only 40 years old compared to the real ancient ones.

Well, I may get one more entry in so we'll see how it goes.
5 days to go.
