What an incredible place! Kubo Sa Dagat is built on stilts about 1/2 a Mile out at sea in a bay surrounded by mountains. It is so serene and although basic a real treat. The lovely staff here prepared a dinner fit for royalty - lots of fresh fish, mud crab (from the nearby mangrove) and enough to feed a football team.
On the first night we were on our own except for the small party of French tour guides staying (who work in the Philippines). We spent the night playing cards (Uno) but after that we were on our own.
On another night we sat in tranquility whilst thunder storms and lightning flashed like a Jean Michel Jarre concert all around us.
During the days we visited Coron Island which is made from limestone karst. It has wondrous steep sides that contain coral lagoons and fresh water lakes.
We also visited local hot springs in the local town of Coron - quite a treat after 11 days of cold salt water and brackish showers! If you are ever in the Philippines this is a truly amazing place to stay.
