We left early after breakfast as we wanted to go to a craft market near Mtubatuba and then to another estuary at St Lucia, which promised us excellent opportunity to hippo sighting and crocodiles. You would have thought we had learned our lesson.

The market was empty of crafts but full of fruit and vegetables.  We purchased a few items and were back on our way to St Lucia.  When we arrived at Advantage Cruises we found out that we had missed the boat (literally) and that the next tour was going to be too late.  However on a tip of where to eat we drove to the Surf and Sail Club on the side of the estuary and when we walked through to the viewing deck in front of us was a family of Hippos and a wealth of crocs sunning themselves.

After lunch – which was a plate full of fresh calamari  - we drove back to the Oyster Box where we dropped off our car.  The staff welcomed us like lost friends and the kids hugged the doorman.

That evening Diane and Phil came to the hotel with Diane's sister Debbie-Lynn, her husband Tony and their daughter Kimberly.  It was fabulous to see them.  We had quite a bit to catch up on so we stayed in the hotel and had a feast.

It was sad to have to say goodbye to Jamie the next day.  The kids had had a brilliant time with him, especially Fynn.  In fact they were like Siamese twins the whole trip, occasionally triplets with Edie.  They didn’t stop talking, playing and laughing.  We hope that by the time we next meet that Jamie has learned to spread the butter on his bread in less than three hour.

We enjoyed the sunshine at Oyster Bay and a glass of wine with Phil and Diane before we had to change and take off for the airport.  This trip really ticked all the boxes - interesting, fun and adventurous. KwaZulu-Natal is a fantastic place to go with children.
