Where I stayed
Today was raining but when there was a break we decided to walk to Lala Nek, which was about a two-hour walk along the beach. With exception to the crabs that were rushing in and out of the water we were alone along the beach. It is incredible the amount of rubbish that is washed up from the ships and trawlers sailing this coastline. We found light bulbs, many plastic bottles, a wedge sandal (no idea!) and various nuts and bolts.
When we got to Lala Nek our guide was waiting for us with all the snorkeling equipment and some drink. The water was high so we were limited to where we could snorkel. The kids went into a tidal pool and snorkeled for half an hour.
It's a very friendly environment at the camp and that evening one of the guests was giving a presentation of his exploration to the South Pole. He raced against sixteen other worldwide teams. We also met other families mainly from South Africa and the kids all played brilliantly.
