Ian started his 47th year with a slab of chocolate cake brought in to him at 7am in the morning, minus any utensils so had to be eaten face down. He had a massive collection of presents – a tee-shirt from Isla Holbox, a back-scratcher from the kids feed up of scratching his back, a painted heart and a promised Leatherman to replace the one that was taken from him at San Francisco Airport.  However he certainly did not lack on his many birthday wishes via email cards, texts and telephone calls.

Hector our guide presented Ian with a Tequila shot glass and then we were on the road heading towards Zihuatanejo.  The journey took about four hours and took us through some fabulous scenery.  It was a toll road all the way to the Pacific coast but then we were on a single lane until we hit Zihuatanejo.  After a few wrong turns we arrived at Casa Rigoletti where we are going to spend the next two weeks.  We sad goodbye to our final guide of this trip and I think Hector was as moved as we were to bestow this title to him.  Hector then had a seven hour drive back to Mexico City.

The casa is beautiful with views overlooking the bay of Zihuatenajo.  We unpacked our bags and settled down to lunch which was prepared and served by our personal butler and maid. Yes the final chapter of our exciting adventure is to be spent in luxury.  Two relaxing weeks when we can reflect on all that we have experienced, seen, done and the fabulous, fun, generous and inspiring people we have met during the last thirteen months.

So if you would kindly excuse me I have a large Margarita on the rocks waiting and a pool to dip into and a 47 year old husband who needs his back scratched.  Until my next entry….. Hasta la vista Amigos.
