Joined by our guide, Maria, we were taken by motorboat to the Llachon Peninsula which was about two hours away

The natives here are Quechuan and we were met at the harbour side by a warm smiling man whose house we were going to have lunch. We walked for thirty minutes through the village until we reached his house perched just above the lake which, he had built himself. The family also offers a bed and breakfast arrangement and we viewed one of the rooms which was built out of mud bricks (adobe) and the walls were lined with reeds. This man was very new wave – not only had he built his house, but he cooked our lunch (assisted by his oldest son and eight year old daughter) makes all the family clothes including embrodiaring some beautiful blouses for his daughter and wife and dances.

Our meal was in a large dining area and we were surprised with a culinary delight which included a hot salsa with oven baked bread, a soup made from Quinua (a cereal which promotes brain development, high in nutrients) and vegetables followed by freshly caught trout steamed with onions, tomatos and local herbs with good old Peruvian potatoes. Delicious.

After a dancing session with the family , Lily dressed up in the little girls clothes and danced some traditional dances with her whilst Fynn and Edie smacked hell out of their drums. We then met his mother and you could see where he had developed his artistic skills as she was wearing a colourful and complicated embroidered jacket and hat.

We had a lovely time with the family and then took a walk along the lakeside to the harbour side to pick up our boat.
