We booked a ski package in Andorra with Nielsen Holidays. We were situated in Pas de la Casa Resort and stayed 7 nights in the 4 star Hotel Magic Pas including half board, 5 days of ski lessons and mountain pass.
We were ready for our trip when big news hit! SNOW in London. Heathrow is closed! Well luckily for us we were flying from Gatwick and after minor delays made it safely to Andorra.
If we have to explain each day it would be similar:
Wake up at 08:00, breakfast buffet, hit the slopes for 3 hour lessons 10:00 – 13:00. We enjoyed lunching at a small restaurant (Café Olympia) at the foot of the slopes, soup for me, a burger for Johan AND a big mug of coffee. Generally, in the afternoon, Johan would spend three hours on the slopes and I would do one or two runs and then read a book in the comfort of the room. Late afternoon we spent time in the Jacuzzi and sauna. We started the evening early with dinner in the hotel and then a drink and cards or a game of pool at the Irish (yes Irish) pub. And by the way the pub was filled with only British people.
Christmas was a highlight for us! We had completed our ski lessons and spent the day exploring the mountains. Johan was very good on all the red runs but it was seriously out of my league so I took the chairlift to many of the places J
All in all it was a very romantic week in a winter wonderland! And while it was occasionally -14 degrees on the slopes and -20 degrees at the top we were blessed with apparently the best type of snow – called powder, so fluffy.
