Another sleep deprived eleven hour flight and half a day to spend in Munich. We made the most of it.

Quite the opposite type of city old Munich is compared to Hong Kong, and from the moment we reached the city centre our relief and joy was palpable. A beautiful clear and sunny day greeted us as we ambled about a very neat and ordered (it is Germany after all) cityscape. Our early arrival meant we were wandering about before the city got going, a most pleasant experience after the claustrophobia of HK. Time was never going to be on our side, so we stuck to the city centre, enjoying our first taste of Europe. Mmm, taste.

Randall made the sourcing of a Bratwurst a most pressing priority, remembering the savoury treat from his last travels through Germany. He was not disappointed. This set the tone for our short stay. Apart from a few wanders about, the majority of time was spent eating hearty Bavarian fare. We milled about in a beer garden in the main markets, eating and drinking the local beer, and chatting to some very convivial locals, one of whom recalled the fire bombing of Dresden. "It was Germany against the world".  We both demo'ed a huge chunk of ham and cracking stuffed into a bun. So enjoyable was our brief stop is was only on our travels back to the airport did we realise how jet lagged we really were.
