Where I stayed
I stayed in most of the week, catching up on some school stuff and much needed sleep. Unfortunately we had no water all week, at all in my room and only cold in the 4 rooms that used the other pump. i have never taken a faster shower in my life. i used to get in, get wet, turn the water off, use soap, shampoo, turn water back on, rinse and JUMP out. i hate how your head hurts after cold water.
in my room, i had a small trickle of water that was enough to brush my teeth, but that was it.
outside the water problems, thursday night, olivia and I went to a bar called the Bodhran, because they had live music, which was good, and while we were there we met a bartender from another bar and he invited us to come back to his bar for a bit, so we went with him and ended up being there 2 hours after the bar closed just talking to him and the other bartender and some other random person. it was fun, but the walk home was drenching and it took my boots 2 days to dry from it.
Friday we decided to go to killarney for the night, and we left Cork on the 7:30 bus, got to killarney at 9, checked into our hostel which was nice, roomy and very clean but of course i took no pictures, and went out to the grand. At the grand, there was a trad band when we got there, and after we got drinks, we just stood awkwardly near the bar until a guy came and offered us to sit with him. This guy named Matt ended up being from Texas and was starting a new job as some kind of engineer in a few weeks so decided to take 2 weeks and travel through ireland and Scotland. He was nice, and it was interesting to hear about his travels and where we should go. He reminded me so much of my cousin John though, it was a little weird but funny. After the trad band, there was a rockish band and the nightclub opened. Overall it was a fun night. The next morning, after enjoying our wonderful free breakfast of toast, tea and cereal we just walked around town. Some of the others who went walked to the Muckross house, but I don't think they ever made it, and I'm pretty sure it would have been closed even if they had. I didn't want to walk there because I'd been there before, and didn't think it was that impressive. The farms are cool, but I was pretty sure they wouldn't be open and wasn't walking 3 Km to see. We came back Saturday afternoon, and Sunday I went to the movies with my cousin Jenny.
This week was pretty quiet, went to my Aunt Sheila's for dinner on Monday (yumm) and one of the guys living in the building (from fordham) played in an open mic on tuesday. That was pretty much the excitement for the week. Tomorrow Olivia and I are going to Dublin for the weekend. I promise to actually take pictures and stuff.
