Today was the day we have been waiting for since January when we started this process.  We got up around 8:30am and dressed up in our suits and looked pretty sharp I must say!  Zhenia came over to our apartment at 10am and we sat and talked about what to expect at the appointment.  He told us to just be calm, be ourselves and to let him do a lot of the talking.  We left the apartment around 10:40 and walked for about 10 minutes to get to the SDA building.  Once we got to the building we waited on the steps with Zhenia.  He was very friendly and kind with everyone who worked there and seemed to really know his way around.  We didn't actually get to go into the room to be shown files until around 10 after 11 because the couple that was in there before us must have had some trouble making their decision.  So we just had to stand there on the steps feeling anxious and confused as everyone was speaking Ukrainian all around us.

Finally, after what felt like hours but was really only a few minutes we were called into the room.  We are worried about giving the details from what happened at our appointment or giving much information about our referral.  We can tell you though that we did not decide on two children, but just one- a 3 year old girl.  We will be travelling by train with Zhenia tomorrow to western Ukraine and we will hopefully meet her on Wednesday.  We had mixed emotions after our appointment.  I was mournful of the fact that we were no longer going to get two children, but one.  I was also hoping for a younger child.  However, I quickly got over this feeling the more I thought about it and realized that this is God's will for our family.  He has brought us this far and we need to continue to trust him to guide us.  So now I am getting very excited to meet our possible new daughter!

After our SDA appointment we came back to the apartment and changed clothes, then left again to do a little shopping and to grab some lunch.  We actually ate at a restaurant other than McDonalds!  You should be proud of us!  Then we bartered on the street and we got some really cute presents for our family!  They deserve it for all their emotional, and monetary support during this whole process.  Thanks to all of our friends and their support as well.

Right now we are cleaning up are apartment and packing our bags.  Zhenia will pick us up tomorrow around 12:30 to get our paperwork at the SDA and then head to the train station.  We aren't sure what our accommadations will be like once we get to the city where her orphanage is, but hopefully we will have internet access.  We will still try to update as often as possible.  Scott and I requested to Zhenia that we stay in this apartment again once we have to come back here to Kiev to obtain her passport and all of those other documents before we can leave.  He said he will do his best for us!  Zhenia is a great guy and he has been such a huge help throughout the time that we have been here.  I can't say enough about him!

Well, it's off to pack some more and then to bed.  Stay tuned for more information and pictures of our little girl!
