Gatlinburg, TN was beautiful and somewhat disappointing for me.

The foliage was fantastic and the Smoky Mountain National Park held lots of fantastic road/hiking trails for us to explore; however, the town itself has turned out very commercialized and not nearly as unique and quaint as it had been in my childhood.

We did dine out several times, but nothing really stood out as memorable and the super size portions and folks really turned me off.

There were many fantastic campfires in our very tight little rv campground and we met a few sort of interesting folks.

I did mess with a die hard Baptist lady who also happened to be a Mitt Romney fan.  I was curious if his faith detoured her at all and not surprisingly, she said that she had not researched the Mormon faith at all.  I informed her that it does indeed differ from the Baptist religion (which in her long winded speeches is the one and only true faith to have).  She wanted an example of at least one difference.  I thought about it and chose to point out the distinct difference that the faith chose St. Joseph, MO as the place where the Garden of Eden is located.  I told her that I have been to St. Joseph, MO and would have probably chosen a different location, but to each his own…  She did not believe me…hehehe

So, we won't be returning to the clone of Branson, MO again, but the drive from Gatlinburg, TN to Asheville, NC was adorned with the most beautiful leaves and our state park camping this weekend turned out perfect.

Asheville, NC might just be a place we would consider moving next.
Going to be here until next Friday – at least…
