Day 27 Nevada the 4th State
Today we had a slow start and managed to gas up and had the Castle rolling around 9:30am.
Earnie took the wheel which gave Rick time to play on the computer to attempt to get it working. We have sorted a system at least to receive the emails that appears to be working today.
The road was flat and straight, on the right hand side we had views of the great Salt Lake,
We continued on for a couple of hours and came to a rest stop, it was a picture stop anyway. I doubt if you can read the sign, but it tells us we are at Bonneville Salt flat, the site of the place where the world land speed records have been set, from Sir Donald Campbell through to the present day record of 622mph. That is flying on land I guess.
Well to our surprise we were spoken to by some Aussies. The father of Troy Corser the super bike rider. Link to his web site.

His brother and a couple of friends heading from Salt Lake City back to San Fran, they a/ saw the Aussie flag on the back of the Castle and b/ recognised the accent.
We had a nice little chat at this famous road side spot. It is a small world, especially when the brother asked Earnie where we came from and then told us he was from Wollongong.
From there we rolled the castle on to the planned stop at Battle Mountain, we chose this because it sounded interesting and it was about half way between Salt Lake city and Reno.
Well Battle Mountain is right! It was a battle finding some information about an RV place yet alone find our way around.
The only "park" that was a possibility was a truck stop and no office just a gas pump station and no restrooms.
We chose to fill up and then try the next town.
50 miles along the Interstate 80 to a place called Winnemucca Nevada. We pulled into the first RV park and it was under new management but at least it had facilities and a pool etc. So we took the chance and here we are.
Halfway across Nevada heading towards Reno, Carson City and Lake Tahoe.
Day 27 and around 2400 miles (approx 4000km)  covering 4 states, we reckon we are doing ok and still enjoying ourselves.
I also must add here that we again thank Fireman Earnie for his wonderful foresight to present us with a magnifying glass, It has been in use nearly every day, it helps us to keep track on the big map the small interchanges and roads. Very thoughtful, Thankyou Earnie!
Tomorrow Reno and maybe we will hit a casino and hit pay dirt to assist with the costs of the trip,  not sure if Earnie and Karon will allow the moths free from their wallets, but gee if they do it might scare the funds out of the machines.
Cath you out there.
