So disappointed.  That's what we were when we googled and found out James Bond was NOT filmed here.  This, after having our terrible driver/guide tell us that it was, and then proceed to point to a rather dodgy looking hotel casino and nearby tunnel.  It was so exciting when he told us, and drove through the very tunnel the car chase film in the movie was apparently filmed according to him.

It was good while it lasted.

Montenegro was beautiful, and very quiet given that it was low season.  Our day trip through a local tour company was not as good as expected, but we made the most of it.  We went to three small towns:  Perast, Kotor, and Budva.  We also drove through the Konavle valley that historically produced very good wine, but after direct attacks from the Serbian AND Montenegran armies in the 90s, it was devastated and the local winemakers fled and resettled elsewhere.  How sad.  So much wine history and potential lost.

We're glad we went, but we don't think we'll feel like we need to return in future.  It felt very much like an extension of Croatia.

And if you were wondering, the James Bond movie "Casino Royale" was shot in Italy and the Czech Republic, despite it being set in the movie in Montenegro.  For the record, we still love James Bond movies.
