We wish we had stayed in Korcula at least one more night.

Why?

Because we made more friends there.

How?

We went to a bakery and spoke.  Yes, apparently, speaking fluent English is all you need to make friends in Korcula.

Why?

Because there are two retired Californians who have lived in Korcula for the last several years, and after hearing us say a few words, they invited us to have coffee with them to get to know one another.  This was, of course, after we had already bought the "burek" we had gone to the bakery to get a hold of and returned for another the same day because it was so good.

And get to know one another we did.  After a cup of topla cokolada for me, and a long coffee for Adrian, we had made fast friends with Bob and Monica, who invited us to return for a visit in future.  By the way, they've also extended their hospitality to any friends or family that swing by Korcula.

If only we had stayed another night, because they would have taken us to have lunch with good friends who run a popular restaurants in town, try some local wine and olive oil, and to see some local sights.  If only.

Next time, we will definitely return to Korcula and stay for at least a few nights.  Friends make a place so much richer.
