Yes, it's winter in Croatia.  And it was very winter at Plitvice Lakes.

But boy was it worth it to go.  It was really beautiful, and peering into the crystal clear green water was amazing.  The waterfalls were so overflowing that they ran over the steps and pathways we walked on as we hiked around a portion of the park.

The scenery was so beautiful that I think it would be worth it to go again in warmer seasons.  Nonetheless, we definitely appreciated the lack of "peeps" swarming the place as we have heard that usually do during summer.  There's something wonderfully special about feeling like you have a place all to yourself, or at least only with a handful of other people.

The rushing clear water, stillness of the snow laden landscape, and serenity of the park provided a peace and calm that we often covet when running through the daily grind back home.  It was one of those experiences that, whenever I think of it in future, will always instill a sense of awe and peace in me, and admittedly, put some goosebumps back on my arms.
