I can't believe how much we've done.

We left the Laos bordertown (Pak Beng) and our guide had to pay off a local official for us to leave on our private boat.  In a very few words, it was, according to our guide, due to the Laos mafia.  Remind me to tell you the details of this story...

We've stayed overnight in a remote village called Ban Lad Khammune, where we met some awesome Lao villagers and got to sleep in one of their humble homes.  We even shared laughs, rice wine, local buffalo dishes, and play time with the kids.  They held a traditional Baci ceremony for us, and the best part was having the sweet, toothless grannies speak blessings on us.

We've also gone to the Pak Ou Caves (only approachable by boat) that are thousands of years old, the Luang Prabang night market where we had whole grilled fish, swam in the Kwang Si waterfalls, and watched the local monks receive offerings from locals that are their only sustenance for the day.

Wish we had chosen to hop off at this point and stayed longer.
