We got to Alice Springs around 2pm and the girls leave the train here for a few days in Alice while I continue to Darwin. Since the train is stationary here for a few hours I decided to go with the girls to the hostel to book my accommodation and tours for when I stop here later next week. It felt like I was getting a sneak preview of Alice Springs and I even managed to get a visit to the KFC before re-boarding the train.

For the last leg of the journey I didn't meet anyone really. I'd been pretty chatty these last few days and was perfectly happy to retreat into my psp and ipod for the last 24 hours of the Ghan.
