Temberling Riverview Hostel

We woke a bit earlier today given that we slept on concrete with no walls to separate us with the rain forest and all its creepy crawlies! Breakfast was rice pudding though the utensils and plates were still stinking of curry but never mind!

We had about 5 hours of trekking to reach the base town of Kuala Tahan. First of all we had to cross the main river again by wading so once that was done we were on our way. I think three days and two nights is plenty for this sort of thing so I was keen to get back to base by this time. As we passed various milestones I felt like a horse speeding up on the homeward bound leg of a journey. I was motivated to get back to civilization!

We checked into one of the ramshackle hostels (Temberling Riverview Hostel) and we had drinks and food on one of the floating restaurants. After the trek both amenities seemed anything but the primitive places I had deemed them on arrival three days earlier!

Kuala Tahan was actually rather more pleasant than I'd given it credit for. I still would be leaving in the morning but my evening here post-trek was a good one.
