I head south in Portugal to a sleepy fishing village called Salema, population 500. The old men fish and you see them in the afternoon fixing their nets. As I get off the bus, (its 2 trains and 1 bus to get there) an old couple in their 80's greats me at the bus stop and asks if I need a room. I say yes, they take me to this house overlooking the Mediterranean. I rent the room with the view for 30 euro (a steal, I know as I check prices later). I rent the room, but I get the whole house because nobody else is renting. There is one market in the village with not much in it and I buy 2 bottles of wine, one for each dinner. I decide to make my own breakfasts and dinners while on my miny vacation from this exhaustive trip.
