Where I stayed
The tyres are brilliant and even make the bikes look a bit professional again
The primitive campsite Mikey had found turned out to be great. It was behind a tiny settlement called Felt, and the very friendly farming folk waved at us as we rode through. With picnic tables, a restroom and sweeping prairie views it was the height of luxury compared to other free camps.
During supper however the storm started to really make its presence felt, with our first experience American rainfall forcing us into the tent with our pasta. The lightning and thunder really set in then and we cowered in the tent as it was lit up by the flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder right overhead. It reminded us of being terrified with Charlotte and Giles in Mulu National Park! We plugged ourselves into the laptop and watched a film to block it out.
Miles Cycled: Only 25 thank goodness as they were into a punchy headwind
