Miles Cycled: 0!!!!!!!!!

Today has been another heavenly day off after 4 intense days of cycling. We woke to sunny skies and the blissful feeling of nothing to do except rest and recover. The room owner cooked us an enormous fry-up when we eventually staggered downstairs. He unwisely left us with a loaf of bread and a toaster so most of the loaf disappeared. We have since spent the rest of the day alternating between to the two cafes which have bothered to open, fattening ourselves up on snickers and m&m milkshakes, whilst planning the route ahead, and in particular Borneo!

It's quite strange here as despite lots of quite nice bungalows and our very nice rooms, there are only about 6 other tourists and most places haven’t even bothered to open. The staff in the seafront restaurant opposite have been sleeping with their head on the table all day. The shop didn’t open until 4, so we had to wait to have our cornettos. We can’t work out if it’s because of the bad weather/time of year or just the way it is on Thung Waeleun.

By lunch, the weather was so much better that we thought maybe the boats to Koh Tao might be back up and running, but looking online we saw that although the Thai Navy rescued 800 stranded tourists yesterday, 700 are still stuck and supplies are getting low. Our snorkelling minibreak is out of the question until we get to Malaysia therefore!

Its 6pm now and Mikey’s just gone off to have a Thai Massage – I’m scared it will hurt, so he is the guinea pig! More pizza later before another DVD from this hotels excellent selection.
