The fun to be had in a big city like Bangkok is too much for weary ageing cyclists. A late night out on the town, triggered by the England vs Wales match left me very glad that today was not a cycling day. Pols had a good nights rest and the therapy of buying some nice new clothes yesterday seems to be easing the heartburn problems.

Breakfast by the canal was good and then we repeated the ridiculous check in procedure involving the agent from across the road to buy ourselves another night at the hotel.  We toyed with the idea of doing some serious sightseeing but decided that because it was Sunday we would respect the day of rest.

The most beautifully designed Starbucks I have ever visited provided the perfect setting for some Sunday coffee and reading.  An hour or so of drifting with serious 'cotton wool head' ended with chocolate pancakes.   Then it was off for some pampering with Polly entrusting her beauty to a suspect Thai hairdresser.

Something productive has just come of today.  I have researched our crocodile sighting and discovered that it was in fact a water monitor.  A carnivorous lizard living around waterways, it can grow up to 10 ft long (pretty much like the one we saw).  Apparently they are a highlight of the town we are heading for tomorrow.  Already seen it….TICK.

I popped back to the hairdressers after a club sandwich lunch to find out the result of trusting a Thai with your hair.  Polly looked wonderful, the blonde highlights and trim had erased 100s of sweaty miles on the bike.  I confirmed that I wanted to remain hairy and instead spend my money on a fish foot massage.  Pols and I took the plunge, submerging our feet into a tank full of 1000 little fish.  The first few seconds were almost unbearable.  The little creatures nibbled away at any available patch of skin and tickled beyond imagination.  Once after this shock, and trying to ignore the fact that you had a 100 fish attached to your legs, ankles and feet, it was strangely relaxing.  Quite another experience.

The late afternoon was spent in more cafes, watching the diverse hippy crowd pass by.  Great pizzas early evening followed by another massage topped off a very relaxing Sunday.
