After many failed sightseeing missions in major cities over the last few months I was surprised that Pols signed up to my boat and sky train tour to the Bangkok weekend market. Fortunately it ran without hiccup and the journey out of town was good fun. When we arrived we joined the mass flow and found ourselves in a shopaholic's paradise.  The 15000 square metre market had it all and we spent many hours weaving in and out of a labyrinth of goodies.  We bought good cheap t-shirts, we were served Turkish ice cream by the most extravagant ice cream seller in the world, we ate Thai fish and chips, and we almost bought one of the 100s of adorable puppies on show. The baby rabbits in pretty pink dresses were also tempting.

The market had it all and it required a lie down in the park to recover.  The tuk-tuk journey back to the hotel woke us up (they go much faster than the Indian versions) and allowed us to take in more of the city

In the evening we hot Khao San Rd and did some more shopping an eating.  All this walking around meant that we could no longer ignore the repeated calls for a massage. We started small and sat back for a foot massage.  It was really good and the lady didn't complain once about my hideous toe nails!

Pols was ready for catching up on missed sleep which coincided nicely with England kicking off against Wales.  By the time I had found a bar showing the match England were already 2-0 up.  I then sat out the remaining 70 minutes without a goal.  I couldn’t help but secretly hope that Wales might cause an upset, such is my hatred of John Terry and Co.  Are they really the best our country can produce?  Why are we not using David Beckham’s genes to clone a team of beautiful, humble and talented footballers rather than field a team of yobs led by an animal of a man who will never understand the beautiful game because he is too busy bonking his team mates wives?

Miles cycled: 0 but we did a boat, a sky train and a tuk-tuk

Do I detect a sense of disillusionment with English Rugby Mikie?
