Noisy school trip kept waking us up during the night (cannot get away from kids) so we consoled ourselves with another huge Serbian fry up for breakfast, this one complete with chocolate truffles.  A quick check at the tourist office put us on the right road to Belgrade.  We stopped in a town called Banatsko for a coffee where I had a really good chat with a guy, mostly about football and Man U.  I was able to name Vidic but other Serbian greats escaped me.  There was later another very strange town called Uljmah.  There were houses with loads of white horse statues next to derelict peasant type buildings.  We did a quick 40 miles before lunch, the Serbian breakfasts really set us up well.  We stopped in Pancevo which turned out to be a dump.  There were lots of pretentious kids hanging around but the best the town could offer was a big slice of pizza. (As big as Polly's face) Having left the town our thoughts turned to getting into Belgrade.  It had been worrying me all day but then, by pure chance we came across a Euro Velo 6 signpost.  These are bike paths set up across Europe which try and keep you off dangerous roads.  Although it took us along a really muddy path which was tough on touring bikes, we were safe from the mad flow of traffic just meters away.  It navigated us under and then over a huge bridge which was quite a way to enter the city (watch video).  It took us ages bouncing on and off pavements to avoid traffic, to find the hostel.  Belgrade is huge and fast moving.  We did eventually get to New York Lights Hostel, what a ride!  The evening gave us the treat of seeing Olaf on Skype (very clever that he can do that at such a young age), he has 4 teeth!
