Woke up to realise that it was STILL raining! My leg was feeling much less painful so after deliberation we decided to get all the wet weather gear out and just go for it. Didnīt fancy another day stuck in the tent anyway. Everyone else at the site definitely thought we were nuts as it was really chucking it down, waves were crashing on the lake and there was a thick mist. Being geeks though, we were quite excited about trying out all our gear - waterproof gloves, socks, overshoes etc! Felt pretty snuggly when we got them all on and after a quick bite we decided to see how far we could get. The rain was relentless and I could really just see Mikey and follow him. It was pretty hilly which kept us warm at least, but after 25 miles, we were both totally soaked through and exhausted. Starbucks in Jona saved us and we warmed up with massive coffees, toasted sandwiches and messages from home on wifi. I was very unenthusiastic about getting back on the bike, but it had to be done and we struggled on through the downpour 25 more miles to Nue St. Johann where after agreeing a campsite was madness we eventually found a hotel that was open. (most seemed to be closed until the ski season - yes we were very high!) it was pretty expensive, but she gave us a discount after Mikey expressed his disgust! Best shower ever after the freezing day, followed by delicious pizza in the restaurant over the road later.
