Camping on a Farm

Made the most of the hotel room having a lovely lie in. Felt like such a luxury not to spent 1hr and half packing stuff up! Had ham and cheese croissants, an apple and a Kit Kat Chunky for bfast sitting in the square. Met a great old man who told us all about his cycling trip to Copenhagen from Le Harve with his brother when he was 18. He said he still cycles 50km a 2x a week with his friends. he mentioned there might be hills today - he was right! The sun was shining though and the hills were very steep, but the roads completly empty. We kept reaching the top of hills and seeing amazing churches and beautiful villages. The houses in this area are timber, brown with black beams.Just before Vimoutiers we passed a cider factory which makes the entire village smell of stewed apples. We had coffee in Vimoutiers and more cheese rolls and then decided (incorrectly) to continue on the scenic route to L'Aigle. The hills were ridiculous and wiped us out, I fell off again, more bruises! We got to the main road exausted after 12km of hell and realised that the big road we had avoided was not only flat, but quiet and empty!  We stuck on that road and dug in to get to L'Aigle. A picnic in the sunshine by the tourist office revived us enough to cycle on to a campsite in Beaulieu which the tourist office man had telephoned for us. The last stretch was completly open farmland all the way, you could just see miles and miles of crops. Near the village a 4x4 stopped next to Mikey and said he was from the campsite. Mikey said he seemed very excited and when we arrived we realised that he definitely doesn't get many campers in tents! He has some mobile homes right next to his farm and all the animals and we just put our tent by the lake. It was another weird place where we wondered who holidays there . I put the tent up and m cycled - more miles to get provisions. We had a great meal in the sunshine watching the swans on the lake and the calves grazing on the other side. After supper we met two other people holidaying who gave us 2litres of water as they said the water was bad. They were from Paris and he worked in security. Again we wished our French was better so that we could find out more. They were very excited about our trip but cleqrly thought we were mad.

Dudes. So very exciting. I would be jealous if it wasn't for the fact that you are having to cycle everywhere. Sports car is more my style Mikey.

Loads of love X

Can't believe you've made it so far already - massive well done lads. Glad the tent has proved itself waterproof (!) and that all your kit is helping to make it more comfortable. Thinking of you often admist the mayhem of the start of term. Two kids excluded from my year group already...Look after yourselves and love every day X

Wow, people have commented while I've been writing. I'm going to stop now as its costing lots of money and I'm tired! Its also very tricky with the French Key board so I'm sorry for grammar and spelling mistakes (Mum!). It is so amazing to hear from everyone though, keep writing us messages as we are thinking and talking about all our friends all the time. Got to go and eat agian. Thats what we do. Eat, cycle, eat, cycle, eat, cycle, eat, sleep! lots of love polly xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PS Olaf you are VERY clever to be sitting up and I would like to see a picture.

French keyboard as an excuse for poor spelling sounds bit of a cop out Pols! Glad you approved of La Charite. Keep a look out for Digoin, Charolles (with the amazing steaks) - all a lovely area - trouble is I can't remember about hills or not - one doesn't notice these things when driving. Pretty chilly here so hope you getting the sunshine. You're doing brilliantly - keep it up Tons of love xxxxxxxxx
