Another sunny day for the next leg of our trip. We've been super lucky with the weather. We started the day with a stop at Radio Shack to pick up a  new Blackberry so both Celina and I would have phones we could use in Mexico.

The Shack was discontinuing the "new" in Canada Blackberry Bold 9700 for $200!!!!! with no plan. Man we sure get hosed in Canada, to buy outright at Rogers its $529.  We were expecting to pay $329 for a BB Curve, so we end up ahead with a better phone.  $20 to unlock it for use on any GSM network and Bazinga, world phone.

After that, back onto the I-5. California is a big time agricultural state and this was evident by the large numbers of olive orchards, citrus orchards and farther south vinyards.  Gotta feed those 30 million people or so that California has.

We made great time again on the I-5 and detoured to get gas at a Costco and the GPS took us out of the way to get the cheapest price but that proved to be fortunate because we had to get on to the I-99 to get to Modesto and our hotel.  THe costco was right beside that freeway so all good.

Not all good however is the new CIBC Visa Debit card that you are supposed to be able to use internationally. So far so bad. It has proven to have very limited use at retailers and gas stations (no use actually), we've been able to use it at some restaurants as well, but the debit is drawn on the wrong account.  The BMO has an account that seems more suited to travelers and includes a number of monthly international transactions on the Plus and Maestro networks. We'll be looking into that when we get home.

In the last entry we wrote about the I-99 freeway being crappy and in need of repair, that was the wrong spot and it belongs here on the way to Modesto, sorry everyone, the details start to get fuzzy if we don't record them right away.

No photos for this entry, nothing really exciting.

Next entry from San Diego coming soon.
