Due to Bolivian īlast minuteī General Election, we had to change our plans by leaving La Paz one day early and staying in Copacabana an extra day.
At first Dave was not best pleased because he thought he would enjoy staying in La Paz but it turned out it was a great decision.
Copacabana is a tiny town on the shore of Lake Titicaca. The lake is so big (8600 sq mts) that it really feels like being at the sea. We were staying at La Cupula hotel which was absolutely perfect as it stands on the right side on the town, up the side of the hill with a fantastic view of the lake.
Both rooms we stayed in had a lake view, on top of that you can freely use the kitchen for tea/coffee as well as cooking your own food and there is also an interesting book exchange/lending.
The gardens are full of lounging chairs and amacas to just relax once you are back from excursions or even spend the entire day there
As soon as we arrived we met two English couples: Laura & Aaron and Mark& Shilpa who where there since the day before. They loved the hotel so much that they just spent most of the time relaxing and reading.
As we were very excited to be there we thought we could go for small hikes around the hills or even get the boar to Isla del Sol (Sun Island) even if we had already a half day excursion on the Monday before we left. In the end we just chilled at the hotel as we were so knackered from the whole journey. I borrowed a book from the small library and really got into it... I managed to finish it in  days. Dave got to watch some football and was well relieved when Arsenal won the match.
Evenings were spent with the guys drinking at sunset (which by the way was gorgeous) and eating at the hotel restaurant which is not bad either.
Monday morning we started the half day excursion to Isla del Sol. We got there and hiked up the hill to the Inca Temple of Sun. Whilst hiking the views were spectacular; you could see the lake, the small hills around it but also the Andes full of snow. During the hike you get to meet donkes, sheep and even my first Bolivian horse.
We only did hald a day and looked at the south of the island but itīs also worth getting dropped on the north side and walk to the south of it.It takes between 3 to 4 hours but if you like walking it is definitely worth it.
Once we were back in town, our bus to Puno was ready to go. First Peru town and start of out last week of travel :-(
