Sitting on what is the nicest stretch of beach I have seen in the US (I have yet to visit Hawaii), St. Pete Beach is a throwback to the days when Jaws dominated the big screen.  The numerous hotels and resorts have been given many face lifts over they years, but they still lack the ritzy glitter of beaches like West Palm or South Beach.  It's laid back atmosphere and very affordable prices, give the place a very appealing charm though.

Snowbirds, retired Canadians and other folks from places where the weather can get pretty cold, make up a large percentage of the population during the winter months.  I've come across some honeymooners, and young couples, however for the most part, the visitors are in their golden years.

This doesn't mean that the place is boring though.  The numerous beach bars and restaurants that are found along the main strip, employ an army of young, fun loving bartenders, waitresses and other staff that fill up at least one bar every night.

I've been here on a couple of occasions now and I've been able to find a good crowd on any night of the week.
