Where I stayed
Bianca's Garden Hotel

After yesterdays walking adventures, I decided to relax in the hotel courtyard and see if I can make some friends.

Biancas Garden is a tiny little hotel with eleven rooms.  It is housed in a large Spanish colonial home with a few rooms scattered around the main house.  All four sides are surrounded by high walls or other buildings, sealing the place in.  The courtyard has a few tables, a swimming pool, an outdoor bar and a bunch of exotic vegetation.  The place is basically a little island of peace and quiet in the middle of the Chaos that is Malate.  Throw in a little rasta reggae coming from the bar and you get just the right vibe.

I hung out in the empty courtyard with John, the bartender/caretaker for the afternoon.  All the Filippinos I've met so far are very inqusitive and positive, and John was no exception, so it made for a fun time.  I learned that most people don't go out in Malate until the evening as the place transforms into a completely different neighbourhood after dark.  We made plans to go out and check out the bars that night, but unfortunately jet lag got me again and I was dead to the world after eight.  So much for partying in Malate.  I'm hoping to make it up later in the week.

The courtyard vibe drew me in again today for most of the day and I can't say I'm complaining.  I'll be shutting down shop here shortly and heading over to Ortigas to check into a business hotel and get ready for work.

Forrest beat up Rampage today!  Nice!
