Where do I start? Saying Goodbyes are always hard, especially after losing touch for too many years and then finding out that you can pick up where you left off. Diane and Ken were the best host we could have asked for. We were told to make ourselves at home and we did.  Their house had such a loving warm aurora about it that feeling like we were at home was easy.  We made promises to not lose touch with each other again.  And with email it should not be hard.  There were other relatives that I would have liked to have had a visit with, but I guess they all had other things already planned during our time here, but I saw the most important people which were Dee, Ken, Diane and all their kids.  We invited each and every one of them out for a visit to stay with us.

Well the last bit of laundry was done, we fixed the bed and the time has come to move on and eventually start heading in a homeward direction.  Saying goodbye to Ken, Diane and Sadie was hard.   Sadie wouldn't take a treat or even give me a good bye lick.  We will miss the little lady.  It was a joy to have her come into our room in the mornings and jump up into bed with us.  What a great way to be awaken in the mornings.

Our drive out to Minnesota was uneventful.  We stopped at our favorite on the road restaurant, Cracker Barrel for lunch and as always had a good meal and restroom stop.  We have been seeing a Halloween decoration that we have fallen in love with and decided that the next time we stopped at a Cracker Barrel we would break down and get one.  It's a broom that is sound activated and runs around the floor cackling and laughing.  It’s really cute, however this Cracker Barrel sold the last one earlier today.  But the gal that Dave was talking to called ahead to a couple of other Cracker Barrels on our route and was able to put one on hold for us in Sioux Falls, SD. When we get there in a couple of days we will have it waiting for us.

We arrived in Bloomington, SD around 5:30PM found a Motel 6 about ½ mile from the Mall of America and booked ourselves for 2 nights.  Then we went over to the Mall to check it out and see if we could grab dinner.  Everything starts to close at 7pm on Sundays.  So we just walked around a bit and were just in awe at the center of the mall.  The amusement park, it goes 4 stories high and fills the center of the mall.   Dave saw a Johnny Rockets and thought we could grab a quick bite, but they already quit serving.  I suggested we see what the theater in the mall might be playing that could interest us.  Dave didn’t see anything that grabbed his interest and neither did I.  However, I saw a couple of demo chairs with a movie preview of the 'Expendables’.  I suggested we see what it was about. They were D-Box Simulators the next Dimension of cinematic experience.  It takes you literally inside the movie with Realistic motion effects in perfect sync with onscreen action.

We decided to give the movie a try.  It’s about a team of mercenaries who head to a South American island on a mission to overthrow a dictator.  Sylvester Stallone Directs the film.

Barney Ross(Sylvester Stallone) leads the "Expendables", a band of highly skilled mercenaries including knife enthusiast Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), martial arts expert Yin Yang (Jet Li), heavy weapons specialist Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), demolitionist, Toll Road (Randy Couture) and loose-cannon sniper Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lundgren). The the group is commissioned by the mysterious Mr. Church (Bruce Willis), to assassinate the merciless dictator of a small South American island.  Barney and Lee head to the remote locale to scout out their opposition. Once there, they meet with local rebel Sandra (Giselle Itié) and discover the true nature of the conflict engulfing the city. When they escape the island and Sandra stays behind, Ross must choose to either walk away and save his own life - or attempt a suicidal rescue mission that might just save his soul.

Other guest appearances were Mickey Rourke and Arnold Schwarzenegger

The movie had lots of action and humor and you can say we were on the edge of our seats feeling every bump and turn on the screen.   Best of all the cost was only $28.00 for the movie tickets including the D-Box seat upgrade.  Both Dave and I agreed that the Movie was great, even without the seat upgrade, but the D-Box was really great.  Unfortunately I don’t know of any theaters in the SFO East Bay that has this feature.  If you can stand a few heads blown off and a knife or two thrust into some throats, then you will enjoy this flick!  (I don’t usually enjoy this type of movie, but this one was well done.

After the movie we headed back to our car through the empty mall, hoping and praying the front doors would still be open (they were).  Then back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep to be ready for some shopping tomorrow.

God Bless my cousins and all the people on the road who made our trip here uneventful.

Sounds like a sad farewell but a wonderful time renewing relationships with relatives. Continuing to pray for you as you work your way toward home. You still have lots of interesting things to see and reflect on. Bonnie

Family and friends are gifts from God. It is painful to be apart and joyful to reunion and I guess this is part of life. We are so happy for you that your trip is so enjoyable and rewarding. People here are asking how you are doing and when you will return. Ushers at Mass have asked about you both. You are very loved here. Stay well and we look forward to seeing you when you are back home. PS Maggie asked that I remind you of your fetch date with her when you get back. She has a new toy.

Tell every one that we should be getting home between the 9th and the 13th. We miss you all too, and we have not forgotten our playdate (fetch date) with Maggie. It's one of the top to-dos on our getting home things.
