Day 3 we got up at 6:15 am, by the way it's not because we’re setting an alarm….we have just been waking early.

After the continental breakfast at the hotel we left for Yosemite at 7:30am with our car all packed and set to go.

Yosemite National park lies in central Calif. On the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Unlimited beauty was carved by Glaciers that transformed the rolling hills and meandering streams into the colossal landscape of the present.  Abe Lincoln set aside this area on June 30,1864 as the nation’s first state park.  26 years later John Muir advocated federal park status and in 1890 it became a National Park.  Please enjoy the few pictures we have attached for your enjoyment.  Notice some snow on the ground in a couple of the pictures.  Dave and I didn’t spend a lot of time here since it is close enough to where we live we decided we have to come back for a short mid-week trip some time in the future.
We stopped for lunch at the Jackalopes restaurant in the Tenaya Lodge.  It was a nice rustic looking hotel just south of Yosemite.

Continuing south on State route 41 all they way into Fresno where we traveled on U.S 99 towards Bakersfield.  Then across US 58 through the Tehachapi Mountains.  We left the main road in the City of Tehachapi for the Old Tehachapi road.  We thought the roads through Yosemite were twisty-turny, this road was twice as bad and narrower.  We got a couple of pictures of the railroad tracks called the Tehachapi Loop.  This loop was created to overcome a steep grade for the trains to get through the pass.  As the trains go through this loop the engine can actually see the end of the train as it passes overhead of the higher end of the loop.

A quick stop at U.S.M.C. Corps Logistics supply Depot in Barstow for a fill up of gas.  Back on to 99 then I-15 and I-40…

After a long day of driving we arrived in Needles at 8:15pm just as the sun was setting and decided to call it a day.  It is very hot and dry and I was told it actually got up to 120 degrees at the high point of the day.  Where's that snow we saw in Yosemite????

P.S. If anyone tried to call us today, my phone dropped in the car and I was unable to get to it until we got to the Motel.  It’s charging up as we eat our dinner at Denny’s since it ran out of juice at some point today.  I’ll return any calls tomorrow.  Love you all and please continue to pray for us.

Sorry, I'm just catching up with your blog. I especially like the pics of Yosemite since I'll be going there July 12th to cabover camp. I have never been there and I'm born & raised in the Bay Area! Bye for now. xoxo
