We have arrived at one of our primary destinations for this trip. We will spend three nights here and that is a nice break from packing each morning. We also took time to do some laundry at the hotel last night. American Idol was also a must see for Penny. This show is such a hit!

Flagstaff looks really nice after traveling in the dessert of New Mexico and Arizona yesterday with temperatures in the 90's. We did stop in Gallup to look at some Indian jewelry by local artists. Yes, Penny did find some things she really needed and worked hard to get a good deal. The jewelry is very pretty and most is made by local Indians. While we were in the store a local Indian women brought in a Navijo rug to sell. The merchant, Ray [as you can tell we are on a first name basis by this time], bought the rug and took her picture with the rug. This is the basis of the local artisan economy in Gallup. With treasures packed we headed out for Flagstaff. Weather was very hot until just outside Flaggstaff where we had rain showers for about five minutes.

Today it's the Grand Canyon, for those of you who are worried about us, we don't have plans to jump the canyon on our bikes. The weather is bright and sunny and a nice day to tour around Northern Arizona.

You Would Be Proud
Mom and Dad,

I managed to mow the entire lawn over a two day period...it started raining both days in the middle of the process. Because it was rainy and really long, it doesn't look the best, but at least its done for the week. I even trimmed in the front!

I subbed in Oregon Tuesday and Thursday and had a nice time. Prairie View school is really nice and the classes were both well behaved. Tomorrow I'll be at Park in Cross Plains in a second grade. Then, next week I'm at Franklin for two days.

Adios!!

Hello from Madison!
We've been enjoying your daily updates from your adventures. It sounds like you are having a wonderful time. Things here are going well. We are counting down the days to the end of the school year (15 for me, 14 for Jason). Owen sends his love!

Phil and Penny
A great report tonight, Ray, canyon jumping... funny stuff Phil! I've had a long day working at school. Tomorrow afternoon I go for a lesson on pulling the primary, transmission, and motor.

Hope you had an exciting day in the canyon. I've been looking at Internet G. C. photographs and doing some reading trying get a picture of what you might be looking at.

Mike
