We headed south as we crossed the US Border and it felt great to be headed toward our last stop.  Maine is a beautiful State with a lot of trees, rivers and lakes.  It is truly wonderful to see all the parts of the Country but Maine is one of the more beautiful.  The wind was a serious issue though.  We had cross-winds (the ones that were so great in Canada) hitting us and pushing us into oncoming traffic lanes.  Luckily, traffic is very light in the area and we were very cautious.

We stopped for lunch in a small diner along the road.  The manager was great and a biker too.  She even rented a HD fatboy (like Barb's at home I suspect) in Las Vegas and had ridden Red Rock and other areas around our home town.  She and another customer warned us to be very careful since the moose are moving a lot now.  We never did see one even though we had our eyes wide open.

We rode down Maine 11 south for about 100 miles which is a very good road.  There we hit I-95 which is the primary road all the way to Key West.  What we hit so far is very good but as always in this part of the Country, is under construction right now.  Between summer season (also known as road construction season) and the Federal funds being distributed to states to stimulate the economy being used for road repair, there is a lot of work being done right now.

All in all, it was a good riding day and it was great to complete Stop 3 of our trip.  We are looking forward to our trip south and plan to speed things up a bit as we head toward Key West.  We'd like to arrive a day early and spend two days relaxing at the beach.  We'll see how this goes.

We rode 404 miles today.  This was shorter day because of the stop at Madawaska and stopping early to celebrate our completion of Stop 3.  Believe it or not, we are not tired, sore or having regrets.  This is a great ride and it is so much fun talking to people around the US and Canada.
