We continued our Colorado River trip down to Lake Havasu, another man-made reservoir.

In addition to becoming a major spring break destination, Lake Havasu City's other claim to fame is having the London Bridge.  Some of you may recall this bit of bizarre history,  The original London bridge was built in 1831 but had to be dismantled in 1967 because it could not handle the modern load of trafic,  The City of London sold it to Robert Mc Cullogh who developed Lake Havasu City as a retirement destination and saw the London Bridge as a way to attract tourists and potential home buyers.  After the bridge was constructed on solid land in 1971, a canal was built and land flooded so the bridge spanned a waterway and created an island.

Even more bizarre (in our personal opinions!) is that a pseudo disney-esque London town has been built near the bridge to house restaurants and tourist shops.  A lot of it was closed when we were there, which was not really disappointing to us.  We were disappointed that the boat tours of the lake and boat rentals were closed until after we were leaving since that was the only thing we were interested in doing.

So we took advantage of the time to just relax and enjoy a rare time of not being in a hurray to get to the next destination.
