Where I stayed
Happy belated New Year!! Sorry it has taken so long to get a new blog out. We were back east for the holidays 12/17/09 thru 1/4/10 and since then have been adjusting to life back on the road. We hope you had great holidays!!
Our holiday journey started off well. We left our trailer in Pahrump, NV and headed about an hour east to Las Vegas where we would fly out of. Since we had an early morning flight out on 12/17, we arranged to stay at a hotel the night before on a park-and-fly special. We got to Vegas early enough to explore the Strip after dinner. It was Jim's first time in Vegas and my second, and though we are not gamblers or night-clubbers, who can resist seeing the Strip at night? Our flight the next day to Nashville was on time and uneventful (always a good thing these days!)
We had a wonderful time having an early Xmas with Emily and Seth in Nashville TN. We then drove to Ohio to see Jim's parents, other family and some close friends of ours for the rest of the holidays. ("Shout out" goes to Emily Witzleben & Seth Morton, Joe & Anita Fricke, Louise Fricke, Ruth & Ron Schroeder, and Brenda & Mike Hartley for being great hosts to us homeless!!)
We weren't too crazy about the weather back east -- mostly rainy in Nashville, some snow in OH and brrrrr cold in both places! We loved reconnecting with family and friends, but by the end of the trip, we were looking forward to getting back to the warmer southwest.
However, upon arriving back in Las Vegas, we discovered that our car had been broken into (driver's side lock popped out) and some things stolen, such as a power inverter and the stand for our GPS -- but no the GPS since we had taken it with us for driving in Tennessee and Ohio. Needless to say, we did not plan to spend our first couple of hours back in Nevada making a police report (for insurance purposes, not because the police would actually do anything about this - apparently car break-ins are fairly common). But at least the car hadn't been stolen, so we headed back to Pahrump to lick our wounds, pick up the trailer and, of course, restock groceries!).
Not until the next day did we realize that a box of travel files and irreplaceable travel souvenirs had been stolen, along with the calendar we used to plan and track our itinerary
Here's hoping the rest of our adventure in 2010 is full of better and fun things ahead!! Pam & Jim
