From the coast of Oregon, we headed towards Oregon's only national park, Crater Lake. On the way, we traveled alongside the Umpqua River and when we were through at Crater Lake, we stopped at the Rogue River Gorge to see the wild and scenic side of Rogue River.  Both rivers were beautiful (especially Rogue River Gorge), but the main attraction of this trip was Crater Lake.

Crater Lake was created when Mt. Mazama imploded after a series of volcanic eruptions.  It is 1943 feet deep, the deepest lake in the US and the seventh deepest in the world.  Its fresh water is some of the clearest found anywhere in the world.  Its beauty is undeniable.

We drove along the road around the perimeter of the lake, stopping at viewpoints and hiking to the highest point on the rim.  We were fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day when we were there.  The pictures tell the story here.  Enjoy!!
