Where I stayed
Wapiti Campground
Yesterday, we drove the full length of the Icefield Parkway to get to Jasper National Park. Once we were settled at our campsite at Wapiti Campground (no trains disturbing our sleep and a nice large wooded site), we drove into Jasper to explore. We took the Jasper Tramway to get a bird's eye view of the town and the surrounding mountains and lakes. Then we drove up the Mount Edith Clavell Road - a long road up the mountain with several switchbacks. The road ends at a trailhead where we started our hike across a lateral moraine to a glacier and glacier pond. This was the closest I had ever been to a glacier (although I will get closer tomorrow!). For a native of Florida, this was heady stuff!!
