Distance 55 miles   Average 9.5 miles an hour

 Day 21  11th June

Hallworthy, Around Bodmin Moor, St Breward,  Camel Trail, Nanstalion, St Columb Major, Newlyn East, Parranporth, St Agnes .

We took cycle Route 3 from Hallworthy to Nanstalion. This was a super route, fairly flat and very picturesque. I would recommend it for anyone wanting a day's cycling; it would be about 20 miles with quite a few options to take a break for lunch.

By the time we got to St Coumb Major we felt we had done very well, especially as we have had to repair another puncture on Roger’s bike and that we deserved a Cornish pasty for lunch. We bought one in the local butcher shop, cooked on the premises and very tasty.

We then had a bit of a journey to Newlyn East and if it wasn’t for the help of a local cyclist would have added a few more miles on to our day, as we were trying to keep off the busy roads but the country lanes were not easy to follow.

From Newlyn East we wanted the quickest way to St Agnes which of course meant using the busiest main roads. The A3075 was busy and just before Goonhaven there is a very steep hill and the road narrows just before the climb, my heart was in my mouth but as you can see we made it. We left the main road and headed towards the coast; we passed through Perranporth and hit another HILL. The first guest house we saw would be our stop for the day. On arriving in St Agnes we saw no guest houses !!!!   we asked in a shop and were advised that Annie does B&B and given directions. She wasn’t in, so the same guy suggested that we had a beer in the local and wait for Annie she won’t be far !!

She still hadn’t returned after the beer, so we cycled further into the village, another hill and enquired at a house with a B&B sign. We were lucky, a lovely room, a lovely en-suit, full breakfast and a good price. Rogers rear brake wasn’t working so a bit of maintenance, quick shower, a walk down the hill to the local pub, 2 fish and chips for £12;00, glass of wine, Yes only one,,,,,awwwww bed,,,,,,,,,

While we were in the pub some people came in and asked the landlord had the "Old Couple of Cyclists" been in asking about accommodation ??

Were they referring to us ?    YES,,,,,,  Seems we haven’t looked in the mirror for a while !!!!!
