This morning we woke quite late and were only ready around lunchtime. We couldn't really decide where to go to eat so ended up eating in the cafe attached to our hostel. Jennie had a ham and salad bun and I had the chef's special which was lamb cutlets with hummus, tzatsiki, aubergine jam and toasted flat bread. The portions and food were pretty good. Then we left and weren't really sure what to do considering the rain. We ended up just leaving the hostel and wandering around the area to see what was about. We looked in a lot of the shops and got our bearings a bit before heading down to the beach. It was raining on and off for a lot of that time so took shelter in some of the shops. The beach was really nice and would have been a lot nicer had the sun been out. We dipped our feet in the water which was tepid. I have to say that it was a nicer beach than Bondi, although I think Jennie would disagree because of her devotion to Bondi Rescue. There was no seaweed on Byron Bay beach, the water was a lot less rough and it was a much less steep decline into the water. Our hostel gives out free bodyboards to rent so we might try that tomorrow.

We left the beach and Jennie was feeling a bit hungry so we went in search of somewhere to get a snack. We found a bakery that had been pointed out to us when we got picked up by our hostel from the coach station so went there. I got a Carrot Cake slice and Jennie had a chocolate hot cross bun. For a while now we had said on quite a few occasions that we would like to have some frozen yogurt as there are so many shops selling it here. We went back to our hostel briefly and remembered that we needed to call our next hostel to re-confirm that we're coming so went out. We called them and then on the way back from the pay phone got some frozen yogurt. They had quite a few flavours: Mango, Strawberry, Pear and Ginger, Chocolate and Natural and a wide selection of toppings. It was all self service and you could mix and match all you wanted and you'd pay $2.75 per 100g of your end total weight. It was quite good although the pear and ginger was a tad odd.

We just went back to the hostel after that and had a short rest before getting the free dinner which tonight was Vegetable Pasta in a Mushroom sauce or Pork Ragu. We both got the pasta and it was quite nice. We chatted to two girls from the other night again and also a group of new people who were from Ireland and doing the same kind of trip as us.

Following dinner, we went back to our room to get ready and were thinking about going to Woody's, a bar which we had heard was quite good. On our way, we stopped off for free wifi at a travel agents and whilst there got given a wristband for the club Cheeky Monkey's. They said it would give us free entry and happy hour until 11pm which sounded a good deal. We went to Woody's first anyway at about 9:30 and there was no queue and it was completely dead so we swiftly left and walked over to Cheeky Monkey's. There had a queue and went we got in it was already pretty packed. We spent a long time there and had such a great night. We talked to quite a few random people and the great thing about Cheeky's is they don't have a dance floor, just tables so for the whole night we were dancing on the tables which was so cool. They played a really good selection of music and we both really liked it there. Sadly they're closed tomorrow but we will have a quieter night then I'm sure.

More soon,
