We arrived this morning in Byron Bay at 11:15am after a much better coach journey than Melbourne to Sydney. We both slept quite a lot and the coach wasn't that full so we got two seats each to ourselves. When we arrived at the coach station, our hostel Aquarius along with loads of other hostels were there with a minivan to pick us up. It wasn't a far journey from there to the hostel but made everything a lot more comfortable.

After checking in, we went to our room which is on the ground floor and a bit like a bungalow as we have our own small outside area and it's en suite. We are sharing with 6 other people: two guys from Hull and two from Germany that we have talked to so far. We said hello to everyone and then both had a shower and a little rest before heading out to find somewhere for lunch. We also found a Peter Pans so used the internet there and then got lunch in a small pie shop. We both had a Lamb, Mint and Rosemary pie and since I was still hungry I had a Garlic Prawns one too. Both were pretty good but like any pie, hard to eat by hand. Following that, we went to the supermarket Woolworths so I could get some moisturiser for my skin which has got a little burned from yesterday's long day on Bondi in the sun.

We then came back to the hostel and sat outside chatting to Ian and Gary who are the guys from Hull. Jennie then went in for a nap, as did Gary so Ian and I chatted for a while. We already knew they were in a band but after talking to Ian some more, conversation got onto the films I made at Uni and then their desire to make a music video for their band. Thus followed me telling them about the logistics of filming and how much it would cost etc. He seemed interested so there could be a potential lead there.

By then it was around 7 so Jennie and I headed to the bar area of our hostel, we bought a drink and claimed our free dinner voucher. The biggest perk about this hostel is you get a free meal everyday. Today it was Moroccan Lamb with couscous, bread and butter and some salad. The only con was you had to buy a drink but it could be any and even so, it's a pretty decent deal.

We collected our dinners and sat down next to some people who we got chatting too. We met two girls from Somerset in the UK and then a guy and girl from Sweden. All of them were really friendly so we had a good chat with them. We stayed there for a bit and got asked by a staff member if we wanted to sign up to do a song for the karaoke night. I said that I might later so we left the bar and then came back to our room to see what others were doing. Ian and Gary were going for dinner and then a place with live music but we weren't ready so ended up going back to the Aquarius bar. We had a few drinks and were gonna leave and find somewhere else but it was still raining and Jennie didn't want to get wet so we went back inside and I signed up to sing 'Don't Stop Believing' by Journey. Lots of people were doing such a wide range of songs for karaoke but finally my moment came. I think I did pretty good, Jennie filming some of it for anyone who wants to see it!

We are now back in our room after going out to get a snack before bed. Maybe time to sleep now... more soon,
