So today we woke to find the weather was an improvement over yesterday, there was a hint of sun and some blue sky which was good to see. We, again wandered down to the Bondi Beach strip and found another cafe where a foreign-sounding lady was trying to get people to look at the menu and sit down. We had a look at the menu and it seemed reasonably priced so decided to eat there. Jennie had a chicken burger and I had a steak sandwich burger. It was quite nice but rather slow service. They had freshly squeezed juice so Jennie had Apple and I had Watermelon, both very refreshing. We then went to find a shop where Jennie could buy a marker pen and then a Bondi Beach t-shirt. These were both part of a great idea I had where she should get as many lifeguards from Bondi Beach as she could to sign it and then she'd have a great Bondi Rescue souvenir.

Once the pen and t-shirt had been purchased, we went and sat on the beach and relaxed there for a while, even though the weather wasn't spectacular. It took a while for Jennie to pluck up the courage to talk to one of the lifeguards. Eventually with a little pressure from me she went into the lifeguard tower and 5 minutes later emerged with four signatures under her belt. Success! We stayed on the beach for a bit longer before walking down to Tamarama Beach where we sat under some sheltered benches as it had started to drizzle a bit. We read there for a bit and I listened to some music whilst having a short nap. About an hour or so later we decided to head back to Bondi again. Once there, we sat by the beach where they have free wi-fi and Jennie noticed that something was going on on the beach. Cones had been set up in a rectangle shape and there were some surf boards out. After doing a little research on twitter, she saw that it was the annual local lifeguard race competition thing. What are the chances we are in Bondi for that day! It would start in half an hour time and basically 8 lifeguards from the surrounding beaches would come over to Bondi to compete. 2 of each team would participate in one activity of swimming, running or paddle boarding. We waited around to see it, mainly because Jennie was so excited for it and it was quite cool. I was impressed at how fit they are and they can swim and run pretty fast, two big requirements of the job.

Afterwards, we went on a hunt for some more lifeguards to sign Jennie's t-shirt. I think another 4 or so signed it so that was pretty successful. We then left the beach and as a thank you for me waiting around to see the lifeguard competition thing, we went back to the Vietnamese restaurant where we had another really good meal. Jennie had a beef dish and I had a honey roast pork belly, both of which were really good. I also had a banana smoothie and Jennie had some juice. We left the restaurant in high spirits and I even stopped off on the way back to get a milk hot chocolate from the San Churro chocolate place. It was so delicious and possibly the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Much more drinkable than the rich one we had the first time.

What a great evening it was, more so for Jennie and I think she will remember it for a long time to come. More soon,
