Wendy visited me this weekend and we were discussing the differences between our cities.  She lives in Munich, which is the third largest city in Germany (after Berlin and Hamburg) and I live in Regensburg which has 1/10th the population as Munich!!  Even though our cities are different in size there is something very special about both of them.

Munich: Very international, you are guaranteed to find a variety of people from all over the world who live in Munich or are just tourists.  There is never a dull moment, since every weekend there is a different festival or celebration occurring.  There is also some major attractions to see, the Olympic Stadium, Frauenkirche, Rathaus etc.

Regensburg:  An extremely historical city since hardly any of it was destroyed during the war, and did not need to be rebuilt.  There is a slower lifestyle especially on the weekends.  On Sundays when all of the shops are closed, there are still lots of people window shopping and just enjoying the quiet streets.  Since the city is small, there is a lot more natural parks and woodsy areas to walk around.

These very different types of cities are one of my favorite parts of Germany.  It is possible to enjoy the fast life of Munich, or you can easily travel to a nearby smaller city and slow life down.  Come visit Germany, or even Europe and you will understand what I mean!
