Mason, Amy, Dave and I got up really early (5am!!) to catch the 6:20 am train from Braunschweig to Bremerhaven and then to Cuxhaven on the North Sea. We had to change trains in Hannover, Bremen and then Bremerhaven-Lehe to get to Cuxhaven but we missed the last change so we stayed in Bremerhaven for a while. It was a beautiful ride up since we were up early enough to watch the sun rise, but it was a very tiring.

We wandered to the harbor area of Bremerhaven and found some awesome parks to play in. There were no children playing at the time so we just explored ourselves and had a lot of fun. Along the water there were some cool museums and amazing buildings to look at. Germans love malls and making them look cool on the outside and on the inside. We also found the main walking road where there are a lot of shops and restaurants. We went inside of a church that had been damaged from the war and was rebuilt afterwards. There was a huge choir (80 people+) and a small orchestra practicing probably for some sort of Christmas event. It was very neat to stand inside and listen to them. There were beautiful stained-glass windows and a huge organ.

Then we walked around to try and find some food to eat.  Eventually we found a restaurant that was open and had decent prices. It was called "Olympic Fire" and it had a red carpet. I was skeptical of the food and how they would receive us but it turned out to be the best meal I have had in Germany by far. IA kraut salad came first which was actually very good and then my food was amazing. I ordered Schnitzel with onions and mushrooms and potato wedges. The flavor in everything was perfect and I tried to eat slowly to savor everything but it was basically impossible. Then we got free ice cream after the meal which was almost better than the dove chocolate ice cream bars.

We finally made it to the train station and got on the train which didn't leave for 40 minutes so we all took a nap. On the 45 minute ride to Cuxhaven we got to see the sunset which was just as beautiful as the sunrise and I got my favorite picture of Germany on the ride. There wasn’t much daylight left but we walked to the ocean and got a great view of the ships coming into the harbor. We walked along the Liebe weg where they built a small boardwalk out of wood from old shipwrecks. We stopped at a small Mexican bar/restaurant for a snack and a break from all of the walking. Then we headed back to the train to catch the 7:30 back to Braunschweig. We all slept, (or tried to sleep) and it was an interesting ride. I finally got back to my room at after 12 am. Then I talked to Dad on gmail for a bit but then he made me go to bed.
