Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas

After breakfast Mike and I headed to downtown Dallas to see the recently opened Perot Museum of Nature and Science.  I was able to refresh my memory on the landmarks on the way into Dallas (from my corporate travel in the 80's and 90's).  This facility opened in December 2012.  It is an interesting collection of exhibits.  There were many school children there on field trips at the end of the school.  Mike and I spent about 2 hours in the museum.  One takes the escalators to the 4th floor, then the drill is to work the way back down.

After we left, we walked over to the Old West End--to discover that it has gotten very tired!

We headed home and made a bad decision on the route--we spent 2 hours going 2 miles on I-635!!  NOT GOOD!  But, we eventually made it home to Camden Drive in Flower Mound.

We decided to head out for an early dinner at Babe's--a fried chicken place, served family style.  You can chose to bring your own adult beverages if you prefer.  The entire meal was terrific, as was the service.  We left as storms were approaching, but most were going to the north.  [On this evening there were several tornadoes in Oklahoma resulting in several deaths, many of them school children in an elementary school.]

After dinner, Carol had been nursing a cough and sore throat that was growing progressively worse, so we headed to an urgent care type facility.  They do many things right in Texas.  This remote ER was in a former Blockbuster store, and it had a Starbucks in the structure.  They confirmed that Carol has a sore throat--not strep--but acute bronchitis.  Several prescriptions were issued.  Fortunately, there was a Walgreen's right across the street where they were quickly prepared.

We headed back home.  For those interested in dessert, there was cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory left over from last night's activities!!  Still great!

We hope the scripts will kick in pretty quickly!  [Note added later--Carol did start to feel better the next day, and recovered to enjoy the remainder of the trip!]
