Today we debark the ship for the final time. We have arranged a late departure (10.00AM) and take our time to savour a leasurely breakfast before making our way to the gangplanks.

Once onshore, we collect our luggage from the terminal building and proceed to the taxi rank. We are staying 2 nights in Copenhagen before commencing the next episode in our meander around Scandinavia and Europe.

Pam & Rob will also spend the 2 nights with us in Copenhagen so we all pile into a large taxi enroute for the Marriott Waterfront Hotel - a mere 2 miles from the ship's terminal.

When riding cabs in Copenhagen, one must be aware that the drivers make more money in time than in distance. So, it was not suprising to find ourselves sitting in traffic in streets that were either lined with slow moving tourist buses, or so narrow that courtesy to let the oncoming vehicle go first was paramount (to the driver).
Upon arrival at the hotel, the driver was given the exact change to which he retorted "can you afford this?" Of course the appropriate reply was "only just!" Touchè.

Since our rooms were not ready that early in the day, we left them with the concierge and began our 2 day intense exploration of the city sights.

Apart from the all the amazing points of interest and local fare tastings, a memorable experience was the climb up the tower of Vol Frelsers Kirke, as the climb on the outside of the spiral was not for the faint hearted.

Also, whilst the visit to Christiania was not what one would expect in Copenhagen, it was nevertheless memorable.
