Arriving in Paris, Maine, we leave Route 26 in search of the home of Hannibal Hamlin. He was the Vice-President during Abraham Lincoln's first term and his home is the most impressive structure in a cluster of pristine white Federal and Victorian houses on the summit of a hill. The home faces the White Mountains of New Hampshire to the west and has vistas across the valley toward them. The tiny granite library and museum in the former jail is closed for the off season (of course!) but our destination is now near and we swing back onto Route 26 for the final miles to our Condo on Loon Mountain.
