We joined the commuter throng of Seattle - but fortunately we were always going in the uncluttered direction! We drove over 520 to Redmond - the home of the mighty Microsoft Corporation and toured around their extensive campus which occupies an entire suburb! Not quite sure how the car rental people will deal with the toll for using the bridge - but that's their problem - isn't it? We had our $5 in our hand but as it was only a pay by toll card or by post we didn't have the option of throwing it anyone as we passed!

Downtown and then I5 south. We decided to to cut across country rather than take the direct route and visit the Rainbow Falls State Park in Washington. We had the whole park to ourselves for a picnic lunch which was rather splendid. There was no-one there to collect the $10 day-use admission fee, what a pity. We then went to see the "Falls" which were a glorified rapid - not a lot to write home about. the only new photos on offer today.

We then proceeded via the Astoria-Megler Bridge back into the state of Oregon. Astoria is a town best missed so we headed back to Seaside where we will spend the night. We parked up on Broadway and walked to the beach and the Shiloh Inn where we hit the bar just in time for Happy our! Yippee!! We enjoyed our drinks - especially me as the menu offered "Domestic Draft Beers" at $2 a time! When we came to pay, it turns our that this means only Coors Light! So be very wary if you happen upon this sea-front inn at Happy hour - it will leave you distinctly unhappy! Boo.

And so to the ubiquitous Motel 6 and the restaurant next door - let's see how that fares.

Well - the answer is wonderful! What a great menu with great food and we had shelly who was a great waitress too! We shared a portion of onion rings as an appetiser and we only managed half od it! The steak my nearest and dearest enjoyed looked wonderful and the seafood fettucini I enjoyed was heavenly! A great place to eat - make sure that if you visit Seaside you eat the the Bigfoot's Steakhouse!

And so to bed ....
